If I told you that Friday the 13th is my lucky day, you’d probably think I’m a nut. I’m not. But I am going to tell you why Lucky 13 is my favorite number.
I was born on Friday the 13th, I graduated from college on my birthday (which was Friday the 13th) and I turned 50 on, you guessed it, Friday the 13th!
I’ve never been superstitious (God’s in control!) and I’m certainly not worried about the number 13. It’s obviously a lucky number for me and I spent years on the soccer field with the number 13 emblazoned across my back.

I’m a glass half full girl. I love adventure and I can’t wait to make this year better than the last! So, I’m starting this 2019 focused on healthy eating, exercise and skincare! I figure I can’t control aging (we are all aging, all of the time!) but I can take the best care of me that’s possible so that when my birthday hits me mid year, I can confidently seize the moment knowing I’m at my confident best!
What are you doing to make 2019 YOUR best year? Here’s a list of 13 things I’ve got brewing for this lucky year that you might want to consider! (Just kidding…my list starts with 1 and ends in 3!)
1. Healthier eating
I’m making a concerted effort to add more fruits and veggies to my plate. My friends at Ediblend shared this recipe for a great morning shake and way to get more veggies in my body early in the day!
Rich’s Favorite Shake
16 oz coconut water (or regular water works, too!)
2-3 Medjool Dates (remove the pit)
Fistful of baby greens (I vary which ones I use. The baby greens are less bitter.)
10 oz of frozen blueberries
10 oz of frozen strawberries
Place items in blender (I use a Vita-Mix) in the order listed! Blend until smooth. This recipe makes several shakes and keeps well in the fridge for a day or two. It’s a GREAT way to start the day!
2. Exercise
Find something you LOVE to do and make it a habit! I’m increasing the number of times I’m on the court playing tennis. I LOVE this sport! It’s great from a social perspective and it’s great exercise. I also have found a fun walking meditation app that helps me get a 2 for 1 on the exercise/meditation effort
3. Skincare
Every day. Twice a day! That’s my motto because I know how easy it is to skip and just collapse in bed but I also know that our bodies restore and regenerate at night so a clean face at bedtime is important! So, consider setting a reminder on your phone and pop upstairs for some ME TIME long before it’s time to head to bed! It will make life much simpler and your complexion will be much happier!
